Hydrant Flushing

The Cornwall Borough Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants
throughout the water system. The flushing program will begin on Monday,
May 20th. The flushing will take place between the hours of 7:00a.m to 3:00p.m.,
Monday through Friday. The flushing will take approximately 3 weeks and should
be completed by Friday, June 7th. This schedule and length of time for flushing
can change.

The flushing is required to clean the water system and check the operation of the

May 20th thru May 24th – the regular flushing route begins at the Cornwall Road
Pump Station from there it will continue down Cornwall Road, into the Riding
Club Estates, to Karinchville and end in Toytown.

May 27th thru May 31st – we will finish up Toytown and head into Cornwall Center.
Pick up flushing in Alden Place, The Woods and thru Burd Coleman. We are
hoping to end the week in Minersvillage.

June 3rd thru June 7th – we will be heading into Goosetown then ending in the
Rexmont area.

It is safe to use and drink the water during flushing.
During our hydrant flushing program, you may experience cloudy water. If this
should occur, run your cold water at the bath tub until the water clears.

Street Light Outages

If you notice a streetlight is not on at night or flickering or just not working please contact the Borough Office and we will report it to Met-Ed online. We ask that you gather information before reporting to us…Address of pole or nearest address, nearest intersection and pole number.  Residents may also report themselves online by going to https://www.firstenergycorp.com/service_requests/report-lighting-problem.html.




Residents of Cornwall are asked to contract recycling services through one of the licensed haulers. Recycle bins, one bin per resident with lid are available to residents to pick up at the Borough Office (44 Rexmont Road) at no charge.

Acceptable items include: clear, green, and brown glass bottles and jars, aluminum cans, steel cans, #1 through #7 plastic bottles ONLY, and newspaper. Contact the Borough Office at 717-274-3436 with any questions.
